It was warm. Very. very warm. The coolness of the cave in Pride Rock had been pleasant but Kiara wanted to go out and explore. She wanted to have fun. The cave was lonely, some of the lionesses were out hunting; her parents were doing... whatever it was that they did and Kion was no doubt with Bunga being gross or dumb or both. The watering hole was the next best thing for her. There'd no doubt be something going on around there or someone just could spend time with whilst she paddled in the shallows. Her mind was made up and the cub got to her paws, stretching out and opening her jaws in a yawn.
When she'd arrived, Kiara hadn't been disappointed and hadn't hesitated to dive right in. She was prancing around, loving the feel of the water soaking her fur and cooling her down. Somewhere nearby she heard another splash and she looked around curiously. Most of the animals were lazing around or lapping up at the water. She couldn't see around the hooves and paws that were in the shallows and so Kiara did the only thing she could think of and began bouncing towards the sound, soaking a few nearby zebras earning herself a couple of disgruntled huffs but they'd thank her later, especially with the sun creeping higher into the sky.
Kiara slowed to a walk and began to paddle as the ground sloped downwards and the water got deeper. She looked around curiously to see if she could finally spot the source of the noise before a huge grin crept onto her face. "Hello!"

There was no denying it, as the brilliant light of the sun grew stronger and stronger, the beautiful yellow disc cruising to its peek position with no hint of cloud cover to soften its incredible heat, it was a super hot day. It wasn't the hottest day that the young lioness had ever seen, but it was still pretty unbearable. She wasn't even sure if the trip to the water hole was worth it, considering it took some precious minutes to walk there from the cold, cozy caves of pride rock. The sun was relentless and her dark red coat was simply drinking in the heat from its rays. Some part of her wanted to just turn back even just a little ways to a tree or an outcrop or just some kind of relief from the heat. But she pressed on anyway, her mouth dry as the grass on the plains surrounding them. As she reached the water hole, she paused, standing some way above the actual water on an outcropping that gave her a decent view of the place. Sure enough, it was crowded as it always was during the dry season, hot and thirsty creatures clambering for a spot in the shallow water to drink or to soak themselves. Kishi made a face at this. She was not good with crowds and seeing so many animals in one place really tickled her survival instinct, perhaps spending the afternoon in the shade rather than the water was not the worst idea she'd ever had. But she paused, shook her head to clear it of her worries and her caution, and she slowly made her way down the rock face to the water's edge, sort of shuffling between two zebras to finally come to a rest with her paws in the shallows. As it always seemed to be, the water was beautiful, clean and glimmering in the brilliant sunshine, it was crystal clear and cool, being at the bottom of a small set of hills, which is why it never seemed to evaporate completely. The red lioness licked her lips briefly with her rough, flat tongue. But just as she ducked her head to take a drink, a wave of water came over her, completely drenching not just her but the zebras beside her, sending them racing from the water, only splashing the lioness more as they hastily retreated. Somehow, in the chaos, she had been kicked or dunked into the water because the next thing that she remembered was being completely under and she had to paddle her way back to the shallows somewhat frantically, to avoid any run ins with some poorly placed crocodiles. But she made it back to land safely, pausing to take a breather and collect herself again, slightly shook by the sudden intrusion. That was when she heard it, the chipper greeting and the splashing of paws nearing her position. The red lioness paused, he back to the water hole, but after a moment of deliberation, she turned around to face the young cub with a noticeable lack of animosity in her expression. She did not appreciate being splashed but this was Simba's daughter, Kishi could tell just from her voice, so rather than potentially get herself in trouble for complaining, the older lioness put on her best smile. "Princess." She said in acknowledgement, bowing her head to the younger feline respectfully. "Forgive me for intruding upon your um... swim time, I guess?"

Kiara knew a lot of her dadâs pride. Their names, their faces. She had to, if she was going to be Queen then she had to know everyone and everything in her kingdom, or the important people at least. She was too young to know the difference between good and bad lions, she knew that there were those who were loyal to Scar but her parents didnât make a big deal out of it. They wanted Kiara to be kind and friendly to everyone, they didnât want her to worry about the bad in the world and the cub was happy to go along with that. Even if her parents werenât firm and strict, she would be friendly with everyone. Thatâs just how she was, always looking for new friends and playmates. Even the ones who were older than her she tried to get along with. The cub peered up at the older lioness with curious brown eyes as she spoke to her, her lip jutting out in a small pout at the lionesses disinterest at her arrival. Kishi wasnât a lioness Kiara spent a lot of time with but she knew that she was somehow associated with Zira. Her fatherâs strict rules when it came to Scarâs followers had been ingrained into the cubs brain and so despite her natural curiosity and urge to be friendly with as many of the pride as possible she had to show some restraint and wariness. Kishi being a prime example of this. She lived and hunted for her dad, but Kiara was told repeatedly to be careful. Kiara padded closer to Kishi, not splashing as much now that she had her attention and puffed er chest out and raised her head at the use of âPrincessâ, giving the teenager a smile. âItâs okay! The watering hole is for everyone.â Kishi was a huntress, and she knew there was a hunting party out, but if Kishi had been a part of it was something Kiara wasnât sure about. âAre you back? Do we have some food back at home?â She finally asked after a few moments, if she was wrong and Kishi hadnât been part of that hunting party then at least she asked and hopefully theyâd be home soon. kishindo
