It was another beautiful day. True Mheetu wasn't much of an early riser like some of the lions in the pride, if he could get away with it he would've slept in on a rainy day. But the weather was warm and there was plenty to do while he was out. He had the day off from training so he was free to go about and do his own things (Of course probably avoid trouble.) Mheetu had set off to go towards the watering hole where other lions and big animals had gathered for the day as he saw elephants, hippos, and some of the other animals gathering to get a drink or just talking and mingling. All of it was boring gossip had heard before. Mheetu wanted no part in that. But he looked around with his green eyes seeing no familiar faces or lions that looked like they might be interested in playing. Since he was still young he had the urge to play and it might help refine his skills... if he found someone around his age that is.
Mheetu went up towards the water seeing his messy mane in it as he went to get a drink and did his best to try and fix it. Once it was in place he found a comfortable rock to rest on as it was warm as the sun felt as it was enough to help him move his body and wake it up a bit more. "There's nothing to do today." He mumbled under his breath wondering if someone would come and play. Anybody for that matter. He would've accepted a mouse...
Speaking of which one mouse scurried passed him with a blink of an eye almost. Mheetu had thoughts about it. The inner cub wanted to play yet at the same time he was sure he looked a bit ridiculous as an adult trying to swat at it. He knew that there was only one thing to do. With a large paw he swatted at it again trying to startle the critter as it went passed giving it a bit of a panic attack. He didn't see the mouse again after that one. "Oh you're no fun either." He said giving up after that. Of course, Mheetu was in a spot where someone could easily tackle him since he wasn't paying attention to his surroundings. Someone could be watching him...

Nala hadn't seen her brother much since Kion had been born; their mother was always in her space, asking after her, treating her like glass. What bothered her the most about this pregnancy and birth hadn't been the lack of support, but instead having too much help. She was feeling smothered. She had taken a few breaks lately, admittedly more than she should, but Kion was growing more independent and strong. She didn't need to spend every waking minute with him, and had decided to take some time to catch up with her brother while a cubsitter played with the infant.
The pale lioness wandered aimlessly, searching for Mheetu by smell. When they were cubs, he had been a thorn in her side... always tagging along when he wasn't welcome, butting his nose into her and Simba's business. Now that they were older, and had experienced the shared trauma of Scar's reign, things were different. They were much closer than they had been as cubs, and Nala was proud of the lion Mheetu was becoming. Catching a stronger whiff of his scent, Nala trotted against the cool breeze, the sun angled high above her. As she approached the center of the scent she lowered herself into the grasses, smiling wickedly. It would be so, so much fun to pin him, when he least expected it.
Spotting her brother sunning himself on a short rock, Nala wiggled her rear to prepare to jump. Seeing his concentration move to something in front of him, she let out a playful shriek, launching herself into the air to land around him, chewing on his growing mane. Spitting out fluff, she hugged her brother tighter, laughing. "Mheetu! What are you doing out here all by yourself?"

"Whaaa!?" Mheetu let out a shriek of his own as he felt his fur fluff up from surprise. At first he thought it was one of the other pride mates trying to tackle him. Except he had been sort of right on that one. It was someone who had been rather close to him. It was his sister Nala, the current queen of the Pridelands. He was proud of her work so far and how far she had become. Mheetu was slightly jealous, but he was doubtful he could ever become a king on his own it seemed like much too hard work as far as he was concerned. It had jolted him awake as he was probably not going to go to sleep any time soon again. Then his eyes looked around as he realized it was Nala. Now if Sarafina had seen him like this she probably would've laughed too.
"Nala! You scared me half to death." He said seeing his brown fur as he looked over to her. And his green eyes saw her he couldn't help but smile towards her. He got up from the rock and stretched a bit so Nala didn't have to climb up there and it would be rather high. At least now he could be at her side. A part of him chuckled. What had they been up too? Mheetu knew Nala recently had their youngest, Kion not that long ago. And he knew that she needed some rest, she couldn't do anything that fierce or demanding just yet. Maybe he could at least entertain her for a short while before she had to go back and take care of her son again.
"Nala you look great. How are you doing? Kiara and Kion my niece and nephew for that matter also?" Mheetu asked as he wanted to give her a hug and also find out what the other family members have been up too. Mheetu had one day dreamed of having a family of his own. He just hadn't found the right girl yet. It also wouldn't be too hard there were many lionesses in the pride... He just had to find the right one.

Nala shrugged at his question, returning his hug with a bump of her head against his shoulder. He was getting so big, so quickly! It wouldn't be long before he was pulling in all the eligible young females of the pride. That thought gave her mixed feelings; she was excited for him to grow, but it also made her feel strange to think about Mheetu having a family. After all, no matter how old he was, he was still her baby brother. "Oh, I'm fine. The cubs, too. Kiara has started taking lessons with Simba, and Kion... he's making good strides." It was fine to talk about the children, but she was disappointed that he had asked. He was welcome to visit at any time; he'd just been busy with his warrior training as of late. The cubs would want a visit from their favorite uncle soon.
Glad I can still scare you." She winked, wiggling her body again as if she would strike once more, a playful twinkle in her eye. "It's been ages since we've played, don't you think we deserve a break from being adults?"Her smile was inviting, her words playful. "Or would you rather play with mice?" Nala teased him, hoping to get a little rise out of him, enough to warrant another pounce, anyway.

"That is good it sounds like the cubs are doing just fine." Mheetu said with a smile as he heard that his niece and nephew were doing just fine. Mheetu of course would make sure he was just a fine uncle towards them. Mheetu recalled the days of Scar wasn't he Simba's uncle? No he wouldn't be the nasty uncle he'd be the fun and caring one as far as he was concerned. "I have the next day off from my training maybe I can spend a day with Kiara and Kion... That is they don't give me a pawful." Mheetu said. He didn't have much experience with cubs but what could go wrong? He was a cub his ownself and recalled not having anyone to play with besides Nala who was a bit older than he was.
Mheetu nodded towards his sister, he was ready to do something else besides being adults for a change, he was still a teenager. He felt like he could get away for it with a little bit longer. "Yes Nala I'd like to go do something fun? Maybe you don't have to worry a bit about your queen duties as well?" Mheetu asked knowing that Simba probably had taken care of a lot of the things that were going there. He knew that things would be just fine in the end. Mheetu didn't want to go to the watering hole, that sounded boring.
"So where do you want to go? Some place exciting? I'm sure there are areas that I haven't even seen before in the pridelands?" Mheetu asked. "I wasn't allowed to go very far when mother was here... I understand now I was just a cub." Mheetu asked wondering if there was something that Nala had an idea for them.

Nala thought for a moment about his request, not thinking of anywhere exciting to visit off the top of her head. "Hmmm..." she murmured, clicking her tongue as she looked around, knowing that the water hole wasn't exactly the most exciting place in the Pridelands, but there were things to d here, and a swim might be nice for the two of them. They could play some game to tag each other, or just splash around and see who could hit the other more with water. It was better than sitting around twiddling their thumbs, thinking about where to go and what to do.
"I'll race you to the water, Mheetu!" she challenged, getting low to the ground in a pouncing pose, wiggling her rear like a cub preparing to pounce. Not waiting for a full reply, she dashed past him, loping at a comfortable speed, not truly racing, just wanting to induce play. She bounded to the shore of the water hole, looking over her shoulder expectantly, laughing wholeheartedly over the ridiculous sight she must be. She didn't mind; if others thought her less of a queen for playing with her brother, they were sticks in the mud. Everyone should take time to indulge in being childlike, every once in a while. It kept her young. Despite her recent birth, and the trauma she was still healing from regarding it, she wanted to prove to the pride that she was strong, and she was adjusting back to normal just fine. Her cubs were important, of course, but she was more than just a mother, and more than just a queen. She was Nala - she was fun, and strong, and smart, and absolutely needed a break from feeling cooped up and mature. This was going to be nice.

"Of course a race sounds like-" Before Mheetu could finish his sentence the male saw that his older sister took off without him even being able to speak up. Nala had always been full of surprises. But you would've thought being a brother he would've known this by now. "Wait for me! That's not fair!" He called out half complaining towards her about it. It probably fell on deaf ears. His green eyes scanned the area -the same ones that his mother Sarafina had. He then dashed towards the water as he saw a clear path for them. He thought this would be easy running at full force just like his training with the other warriors.
Then he felt his paw slip under what he thought was mud. "Woah!" He said but managed to get right back up with a stumble. He managed to lesson the gap between the two and he had a feeling Nala was going to win at this point. She cheated!? No one said that you couldn't get a head start. By the time Mheetu got towards the finish line of the watering hole he was out of breath. Yet there was more of that mud as he went face first practically into the water and splashed about. His mane was all wet and his face covered partially dirty. If Sarafina had been there, and especially of his fragil cub days he would've looked like a mess.
"I guess you won, Nala fair and square." He said as he couldn't stop but laugh. "But come on in the water is fine... And wet." He said giving a silly grin on his face. Nala won. At least she didn't do an embarressing face plant. He knew she would never let him forget this one. Mheetu knew he could never have fun like this with Iniko or Amari. They always seemed to awkward. And with the rift spreading farther and father apart. Mheetu feared what may happen next with the remaining part of Scar's followers. But he didn't want to think about it now. He just wanted to have some fun with his older sister.
