Predictably, the reaction to her arrival was mixed. Sarafina was tense, Tama at least tried to seem cordial, but others were welcoming. She tried to smile, but moved herself to the edge of the group already questioning the wisdom in her coming. These lionesses were capable, and the truth was she felt so uncomfortable. Many of these lionesses were the ones that painted Scar so badly, or otherwise just seemed against her. But if she was ever to find her place here again, she had to try... Nakala's presence at least was a comfort, it was nice to see the former princess integrating. But talk swiftly moved on and a zebra became the subject of conversation - an injured old nag. If they were lucky it would feed a few mouths, but Zira herself found it lacking in scale. A party this size could have hunted something far more substantial, but every one else seemed to think it was a brilliant idea.
"I suppose it will do." Unlike Sarafina, she wasn't going to sing this teen's praises. It was information, a potentially easy meal, but it was nothing special. Still, she held back her sarcasm and desire to hit a bigger target, accepting the views of the wider party. Nakala talked of observing, and Zira sighed to herself. This was going to be a long, by-the-books hunt it seemed. Still, it could be a good lesson, potentially.

She was no huntress, but she wasn't incapable. When Signe had first heard about this hunt she brushed it off, but seeing Zira heading toward the meeting place was enough to change her mind. She stretched, lifting herself from the rock where she had been resting in the last heat of the day, and slowly made her way down to the gathering. Her blue eyes settled on Sarabi and Sarafina, bowing a little to them and nodding at the others before moving over to Zira, rubbing against her affectionately in a clear show of where her own loyalties lay.
"I hope you know what you are doing." she whispered in the former queen's ear before turning and lowering her haunches. "Sorry I am late," she spoke louder now, "So, where are we at?" She was already impatient to get started, to hunt at Zira's side and make herself known within the ranks. After all, she had mostly slipped through the gaps during the change of power.

Sabini knew that there would be a large crowd, a part of her was still nervous, yet she couldn't say no to the former queen's wishes. She thought Sarabi had been a great queen in her time from when she had been a tiny cub. Yet she kept those thoughts to herself. Yet, everyone it seemed had likewise thoughts, no one appeared to be thrilled having Zira here. Yet, she understood why they had paired up with Zira and her group. Maybe there would be a chance they could do some good here and hunt with different personalities? Sabini did her best to give the awkward stares or looks towards Zira. Couldn't they all just get along? Maybe?
"Hello Queen Mother, Yes we have fair winds in our favor today for the hunt, Sarabi." Sabini said with a smile seeing that there was hope in their paws this time around. "And perhaps we can all get along..." She muttered under her breath not really all wanting them to hear her.
It appeared that they were going to be hunting Zebra, yes those four legged hooved animals were quiet the challenge. But they knew they had some home here to try and get some things done here. Sabini stood by some of the lionesses that she knew like Sarafina and Sarabi waiting for the orders on what to do next. She saw a few young faces as well som ethat were younger than her. Sabini would do her best to take part and hopefully avoid any fights that happened. The hunt would soon be fast upon them. "I believe the time is soon to start. The zebra have no idea that we will strike if we use the stealth and blades of grass around us." Sabini said knowing stealth would be on their side in the tall blades of grass that stretched far beyond their shoulders.

The group seemed to grow as Signe joined them. But, as she watched the older lioness rub against Zira in affection, an uneasy feeling seemed to grow in Udiri. Such a clear show of loyalties, including Sarafina’s own reaction to Zira’s presence, only would serve to make the divide growing in the pride more apparent.
Her claws unsheathed then, a tick of hers when she got nervous and lightly dug into the dirt beneath. Udiri had been quietly listening to the back and forth about the zebra, ears perking forward slightly as Nakala inquired about observing when she herself wished they could take part. It felt like the fastest way to truly learn how to hunt, even if it meant just keeping the old equine from escaping their grasp. An injured animal didn’t exactly mean they were helpless. But, she held her tongue. She doubted the older lionesses would allow them to partake when they were still learning so much, which was a bit of a disappointment but the brown lioness would manage until the day came she could have a more active role in hunts.
However, the talk among the lionesses wasn’t the only thing to reach her ears.
Soft whispers on the wind made one of her ears twitch to the side, as if listening to an unseen individual. The voices of those past seemed to speak to her, sensing unrest on a plane they could not reach, causing her fur to prickle as if ants were crawling around her fur making her sheath her claws. “We should...probably go scope out where the herd is first before we make any final decisions. Won’t know the best places without doing so! Right?” Udiri finally broke in to break the growing unease she was feeling. It wasn’t just the group tensions but the otherworldly unrest as well; she couldn’t quite understand what they were saying but she could feel it. Trouble was looming, threatening to consume the pride it felt like.
“The sun will be down soon too! Don’t want to lose too much precious time!” The young lioness was on her paws, letting her energy show to combat her growing unsettling feeling, grinning as the excitement sparkled once more in her eyes.

She noted with a sense of unease as the mood shifted just slightly. It was obvious to everyone there that Zira and Sarafina had their issues.. Honestly she was one of the few that was caught in the middle of the drama. She cared about Sarafina like she would a sister, but Zira was a dear friend of hers. They had grown tight during the shadow times, and to see the unease between them was hard to witness. Sarabi honestly knew in her heart that nothing good could come from this. A part of her had hoped that Nala would have come to lead the hunt which was one of her duties even if she didn't actually participate in the hunt. She was still doing a lot of the leg work that the new royal couple should be doing. It was something she hated to admit to but it is what it is. Her red eyes shifted tiredly between the various members of the hunting party.
A zebra was never a easy target, even if the individual in question was injured. The herd could very easily decide to defend their mare and ruin the hunt. They also had to question where to watch from. Sarabi thought long and hard on that question in particular. If anything this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to actually have the younger females be more involved in the hunt itself. If luck was on their side maybe they could take more then one zebra which would feed the entire pride. "More then likely the zebra herd will be grazing right now.. Typically they are in the Mbali fields at night time.. Which offers them some safety but it will also help us to stalk them easily with the rocks and trees to hide behind."
Sarabi stood on her perch and looked over each of the pride members, deciding who would be working with who. It was the hardest to pick between the very different personalities. "I am going to lead the first group. Umiri, Tama, Taamu, Sabini, and Yolandi will be in my group. The second group will be lead by Sarafina. Zira, Signe, Nakala, and Umeme are in that group. My group will be the stalkers and chasers, Sarafina's group will be the one's to bring the zebra down and make the kill."
She knew she was taking a very large risk with having Sarafina and Zira in the same hunting party. However, she wanted to make them work together like they used to. Maybe they would relax once they fell into a familiar pattern. She hoped it worked that way. With a flick of her tail the Queen Mother leapt off of her perch and landed silently. Keeping her tail raised slightly she continued to wave it about as she departed for the Mbali fields." She frowned slightly as she walked, eyes raised to ask the stars for their blessing this evening.
The pride desperately needed something to work, they needed to come together as a family. Sarabi kept silent as she walked, her senses listening to the night. Her ears twitched as she heard snorts and grunts off to the right. A large herd of water buffalo watched the pride with wary eyes. They were not commonly on the menu but it did happen on occasion. Sarabi paid them no mind.
Soon enough she stood at the beginning of the fields, waiting for the rest of the group to catch up with her. The Queen Mother was all business when it came to hunting, that normally kind expression was gone replaced by a look of calculation and predation.
