Let it go to grass..
The reign of the tyrant red King has come to an abrupt end, by the teeth and claw of his closest friends. With his death the hyena clan lead by the matriarch Shenzi departed back to the Shadow Lands where they used to live. The clan only had about half the numbers they started out with but at least some had survived to see another day. With the boom of thunder across the Pride Lands a new King is crowned. The dynasty of King Simba had begun, peace once more returning to the lands. However not decision was going to be easy to make...
Starting with the followers of his uncle and his many offspring they made up a large portion of the pride. At first the young King wanted to lash out and exile anyone that shared Scar's tainted blood. All of his offspring could not be trusted, at least not in his eyes. However, his mother swayed his opinion on this particular. Sarabi had raised her adopted daughter Nakala whom was Scar's daughter. She had raised her from a small cub and knew the lioness was not evil like her father had been. The same went for the many other cubs sired by the red King, they deserved a chance to be different.
The other lionesses agreed with their former Queen and her son decided to give them a chance. A chance to come together and move forward into a new reign.
A few weeks passed without much incident, if anything the pride seemed content and the youngest members were happy. That all changed when Zira returned to the Pride Lands, she had been the mate of Scar. She had been the Queen and had no idea anything had changed since her hunting part left to find food. Upon her return she noticed how things had changed seemingly over night.
The trees were budding again, and grass was sprouting from the dirt. She also noticed the distinct lack of hyenas. By the time she got to Pride Rock she was in near panic. Entering the den she saw the sleeping lionesses and snarled. Near the back of the cave lay a large male with a red mane?! Where was her husband? Roaring she bared her teeth, her hunting party flanking her on either side.
Simba stood from his perch and met the challenge with a roar of his own. The rest of the pride joined him and the two groups stared each other down in the den. "Who are you? What happened to the King?" She questioned with a low growl to her voice, her head lowering to protect her throat. The large male across from her just continued to growl for a moment. "He is dead. I am the King now. I am the son of Mufasa the true heir to this land." He whispered out, his red eyes flashing in the shadows of the cavern.
Sarabi stepped up to his left side, a soft sad smile on her face. She knew this had to be hard on her pride sister. Once upon a time she had lost her mate and son, she knew how painful it was. Sitting between her paws was Nuka, one of Scar's many cubs. He was also the oldest son of Zira, and such was once a prince.
"Mommy!" The cub squealed and moved to rub himself against Zira's legs. For a moment the lioness softened her head lowering to nuzzle her son. Glad that he was still alive, and she noted with a quick scan of cave saw her infant daughter Vitani resting in the capable paws of Sarafina.
"You may stay here with us as one family as long as you prove your worth. The moment I sense any sort of rebellion you will leave this place. It is your choice in how it all goes down.." Simba stated sternly, before he returned to his resting place. Leaving Zira to deal with her grief.
As the sun rises over the lush valley of the Pridelands, King Simba smiles. His cubs, Kiara and Kion, have just been born and he seems to have everything he could have ever wanted, and more. With Nala by his side, he feels as if he could do anything; except, ruling is a little more difficult than the old monkey made it out to be. Even with Rafiki's guidance, Simba is struggling to fall into his father's pawprints. His mother is adamant he will be an even greater leader than Mufasa - but is that even possible? Not to mention there seems to be a growing discontent between some of the lionesses, and Simba worries there might be an uprising from what remains of Scar's followers.
