Growing up, she was always goading her brother's into tussling but their fights never progressed further than play. Vitani has an over-confident attitude that often leads her into troubling situations. She's the type that would pick a fight with a buffalo and not think twice about it, some might go to the trouble of saying she has a death wish... In actuality, she just overestimates her ability to overpower any enemy that dare to take her on. Many would call her hot-headed, brash and impulsive, she can be quick to anger and will let her feelings be known to whomever dared cause the spark that started that fire. She has an intelligence that she keeps mostly to herself, only flashing a glimpse of her true intellect in a witty comment or the bite of a sarcastic remark as you pass her by. Vitani tends to follow her mother's words closely, believing that Zira knows what is best and wants the best for her- even if she doesn't always have the time for her- because of this, Vitani often obeys her mother's commands- even if she feels deep down that she doesn't want to. Beneath the surface, hidden behind the sarcasm and fiery exterior is a compassionate soul. Vitani cares deeply for her family and is extremely protective- particularly of her brother Kovu. Her loyalty burns brightly and she would willingly lay down her life for those she loves. Likes • Her family | Fighting (mostly in play) | Running | The taste of Zebra | Warm days. Dislikes • Water | Being alone| Mentioning her father's death | Being yelled at | Seeing her mother sad. History • When she was born, she had no clue just how much her arrival had been anticipated. How her mother had stared down at her in awe and whispered about how soon she would meet her father, she didn't see the vague disappointment on Zira's face at her failure to produce an heir. Just days after her arrival, Vitani was joined by another- a second cub who battled her for position at her mother's belly. She wouldn't remember those first few days with Kovu, the only thing that mattered was what came after. When both cubs were presented to their father, Scar quickly named Kovu his heir and although Vitani was deemed an important asset to the pride, she couldn't measure up to how he saw his 'son'. As a young princess, Vitani never had to fear the wrath of the hungry hyena's that prowled the pridelands, she was under her father's protection after all- and she always had plenty to eat, even when many in the pride were starving. However, whilst both parents were besotted with her twin, Vitani was often left to her own devices- meaning that she had to find ways to entertain herself whilst Kovu was busy spending time with Scar. It wasn't that Vitani didn't try to seek her father's approval, often she would show him some new fighting technique that she'd learned from one of the older cubs, he would give her a nod and a smile as if the display had impressed him. It would give her hope that maybe, just maybe... He would invite her to join him and Kovu during their private discussions, and then the moment would pass without any such invitation and she would go back to just... Being by herself. Then one day, when she was just a cub... Everything changed. Another lion came to the pridelands and challenged her father. She watched from the den as the large golden lion with a mane red like blood, attacked Scar and then watched as he was defeated. 'Simba' emerged victorious, after murdering her father and nobody had even seemed upset about it... They welcomed Simba as their leader- she wouldn't find out later that this was due to him being Mufasa's only son and rightful heir. When her mother returned to pride rock after Scar's defeat, Vitani saw the lioness that she'd looked up to her entire life, wrecked with grief. She attempted to comfort her mother, but what could be said or done to ease the suffering of a broken heart? In the following months, Vitani watched as her mother's anger grew. Her suppressed rage went unnoticed by many, but Vitani knew Zira well enough to tell when a storm was coming. Perhaps it was because her father had always kept her at arms length, but Vitani didn't feel the fury that her mother and Kovu shared. She was saddened by her father's death and angry at the suffering her mother had endured because of his loss, but mostly she was confused... Because how Zira spoke of Simba, didn't reflect the treatment she'd received from their king. Could he really be so evil? He had always treated her with kindness, she didn't feel like an outsider- not like how her father had often made her feel. No. Mother knew best... She couldn't question her. the FAMILy Father • Mother • Zira Siblings • Nuka (brother), Kovu (adopted brother, believed twin). The mighty huntress was about to capture her prey- if only it didn't move so fast. Preparing to pounce and finish off the unsuspecting insect, Vitani was taken aback when the creature suddenly flapped its wings and escaped into the air. Beetles obviously didn't understand the rules of 'hunt or be hunted'- and the rules could be whatever she chose, considering she had invented the game herself. Flying was definitely not allowed. With her game unavoidably put on hold, the young cub gave a sigh of boredom and was just about to give up on the hope of being saved from the soul crushing boredom that she was experiencing, when a flicker of movement caught her eye. Glancing over at the mouth of the cave, she saw her father emerging from the den, with Kovu at his side. Her heart gave a small leap of excitement, as did her body as she ran to intercept them before they could leave her behind. "Daddy! Kovu!" she cried with an excitement that seemed exclusive to cubs and skidded to a halt in front of her father- he watched her with disdain, as if he didn't approve of how enthusiastic her greeting had been. "Um... N-Nuka taught me how to pounce, wanna see?" she asked, her confidence waning a little in the presence of her father and the memory of how little he seemed to care about her endeavours. Without waiting for an answer, she tackled her brother and the two cubs promptly began tussling around, their shrill giggling drawing the attention of many of their pride mates. "Vitani!" it was her father's scornful tone that eventually caused her to cease her playful torment and she clambered off of her littermate and stared up at Scar expectantly, as if she anticipated praise for her display. "We don't have time for games, Vitani. Come, Kovu" Scar flicked his tail to command his son to follow and then turned his back on her, proceeding down the path and leaving Vitani behind... As usual. Vitani exchanged a glance with her brother, her gaze hopeful as if she expected him to disobey their father, just once and remain behind to play with her. Kovu hesitated briefly, shooting his sister a longing glance before the sharp voice of their father was beckoning him again and with a sigh of frustration, he followed. "Goodbye..." Vitani sighed softly, staring adamantly at her paws to hide her disappointment. WORDS: 424 |
