To him, live is very simple and uncomplicated by things like morality. He feels he's earned his infamous status, and has become lazy and complacent; would rather threaten lessers do all the work for him. However, he's not allowed himself to grow soft, for that would make him a target, and mauls other animals occasionally -- sometimes for very flimsy reasons. Julian gets what he wants through little else than intimidation. Julian views compassion with a cynical eye for it is utterly foreign to him. During his childhood, he received little parenting and love from his mother. Once she became pregnant with Julian's younger sibling, he was chased away before he was ready to be on his own. But Julian managed to pull through and survive to adulthood. He was under the "employ" of Scar before Simba appeared. In his early years, he as a notable enforcer of the lion usurper's rules alongside the hyenas; he was almost gladiator-like in demeanor and his livelihood was the fight. However, as he attacked a royal cub who attempted to order him around, the lions chased him to the Outlands, where he received the burn on his front leg from a lava pit. Julian now exists as almost a mob boss in the Outlands, intimidating smaller animals to do his bidding.
