Iniko's blue eyes opened up that morning as she at first didn't want to wake up right away. The lioness felt groggy. She probably could've slept more hours. But the sun had been up for awhile. Iniko didn't want to be considered a lazy lioness. She knew the shaman's work was probably going to have to be done soon. She picked herself up as the red lioness yawned and took a walk towards the watering hole to get a drink. She saw a couple of the other shamans there as they were collecting herbs. "Good morning Iniko, always a late riser?" One of them asked as she shrugged not minding it. Of course her princess role didn't mean anything anymore. Iniko would have to find her own way in life as she knew that would be a bit of a challenge.
"Be sure to check the roots of trees and the grasses nearby there are plenty of herbs for us to pick." The lioness said showing Iniko which roots to look for. Iniko nodded.
"I'll come back and get them." Iniko said with a soft smile towards the lioness' face. She seemed to be lost in thought elsewhere. But she was willing to do her job still. The lioness soon went over to where the nearby trees were. She was careful to yank the roots out of the ground the ones that were all dried up. Still she left the ones that were there that had been still good and were being used by the trees. Iniko hoped that she hadn't hurt the tree too much in that case. She then went to go look for the other grasses that the lionesses had told her to go look for. Some of them smelt funny and others tasted different. All of which were helpful to try and heal others or treat wounds. Iniko was doing her best to remember them all and she could remember some of them very easily. "Let's see... Cobwebs help treat wounds and keep them clean..." Iniko said softly not caring if anyone heard her. "Garlic helps treat upset stomachs and gives them a break. Even if it smells bad..." She said to herself. It was clear Iniko was working hard. Maybe one day she'll impress those lionesses as they probably gave her the cold shoulder or thought ever so lowly of her. A part of her hated the fact that she was related to scar. Yet another part forgave him for what he did. After all he wasn't that bad... Some didn't see him like that...
"Iniko did you get those plants?" The voice broke her concentration as she looked up. The lioness had thought she was day dreaming. But she was wrong that time around as Iniko did get her herbs that she needed.
"Yes, Ma'am I was just trying to remember some of the healing elements." Iniko said putting them down by her feet. She gave her a look of 'of course I was.' But she knew that speaking out against your elders was probably wrong.
